The Halifax Concert Band
46th Annual Spring Concert on May 28th, 2019
The Halifax Concert Band will present their 46th annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 28th at 7:30 pm at the Bella Rose Arts Centre in Halifax.
283 Thomas Raddall Drive
The sixty member group, under the direction of David Staples, will be performing a wide variety of music from the concert band’s repertoire. Our concert will feature a retrospective look at the music of Leonard Bernstein, through his exciting “Mambo” from West Side Story, to the poignant “Make Our Garden Grow” and the raucous “Gee Officer Krupke”. The band will also perform Howard Cable’s “McIntyre Ranch Country”, a new arrangement by Kent Steerwell of Aretha Franklin’s “Sweet, Sweet Baby” featuring Perla Canales on vocals, and Robert Buckley’s powerful dedication to the Halifax Explosion, “Echos of the Silent”. In addition, there will be music from the movies and Broadway with “Music from Wicked” and “Chicken Run”. There will be more, which will be included along with some classic transcriptions and audience favorites, which will round out an enjoyable evening of concert music.
